RESERVATION-Today's Love of India

RESERVATION

This is my first ever blog and see what I choose to start with, but I must tell you that this is not an instant thought, this has been there in my mind over the years.  I just decided to pen down things and see if it makes any difference, so here we go.

WHY RESERVATION WAS THERE IN CONSTITUTION?

I have never read the Constitution of India, but the Reservation must be there for the benefits of the last person of the country.  Last person means last person.  These are the people who have been ignored for decades (may be centuries though don’t want to get further into it), these are the people who have not been in mainstream of the country.  So to get these people into mainstream, they have been awarded Reservation in education system, jobs, etc.  (This is enough personal definition of Reservation, hope you guys won’t mind it).

OUR PSEUDO-NATIONALISM:

We are 0.1% Indian only on two days in a year (15th August and 26th January, not to mention why).  Rest days we are just an Aadhar Card Holder, BPL Card Holder, or any such card holder who wants to enjoy every sort of benefits from our government and we feel that our government is responsible for every bad happening in our personal life.  Some thinks Japan is good country; yes, I do agree.  Now, we must know Japanese people and their nationalism.  They used to work extra one hour every day after their shift timing gets over and donate that extra income to government.  Yes, and we want to become like Japan, sorry we cannot.  Because here we just want everything from our country and we don’t like paying appropriate taxes, which are necessary to run country like us.  Can we be the real Indian for the sake of our country?

CURRENT RESERVATION DEMANDS AND INDIA:

Even after 70 years of our Independence and almost 68 years of Constitution of India in force, there are still people who are far away from mainstream.  And more than that, there are some people (may be 10% to 20% but they are there) who have been awarded Reservation till date are now politicians, actors, sportsman, businessman, etc.  The list is long.  Now, it is unjustifiable if they enjoy Reservation benefits as these people have upgraded their lifestyle to ultra-high class.  This is why other communities feel they are ignored and suffering more.  So every now and then some community demands Reservation for their respective castes, which sometimes make me feel unease.  I personally thought at once that one guy was going to make difference in Gujarat (as I belong to Gujarat and observed him closely, don’t want to mention his name as it is not necessary), but I was wrong.  He at first hit the right chord, but as their movement moved on, his immatureness showed up and now I personally think he is again heading in a wrong direction (I am neither a judge of Supreme Court nor related to any political party-necessary to mention).  There is a lot to write about this, maybe next time around, but we definitely need another ‎B. R. Ambedkar to make amends in our Constitution of India without any politics (pure thoughts here, no need to harbor any suspiciousness).

SOLUTION

My community falls into the Scheduled Caste since around 2003/2004, but my family never applied for Scheduled Caste certificate or even tried to know about process.  So if we have the willingness, we can do it for our brothers and sisters who are still in rural areas and struggling with basic needs of life.  There is a lot to ponder about this, and who used to live in Air Conditioned Homes, have a car, and many other luxurious things should give up their Reservation status (if one can give up Gas Subsidy why not Reservation status), and we should simply have such a system where an economically backward person who is should enjoy some type of benefits.  Yes, this is difficult, but it is not tough to give up Reservation.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Whosoever you are, from whatever community you belongs to, and whatever your sacred book is (Gita, Quran, Bible), we are not here to achieve anything and to get anything, we are here to leave everything after us and if we can leave even a bit of an impression of our footmarks, we will be remembered for centuries.  We are born to plant a tree (any kind of tree, even either girl or boy), nurture them, let them understand the nature and pass on our experiences with them and leave gracefully, seriously we are not born to fall into Reservation criteria, seriously.  We are absolutely not here for Reservation, Sorry for people who wants to enjoy Reservation even if they are in mainstream for decades now…….Jai Hind, Vande Mataram.
